The Floating Suburb Project

The Floating Suburb Project was kick started in an official capacity for a public project in 2023 as part of Youth Week. This is was initiated as a community driven project in which with every adaption the project evolves and caters to the needs of the community. Through the creative medium of cardboard engineering we will be exploring ideas of home and contribute to my ever-evolving cardboard floating suburb installation. The installation and workshops hope to fill spaces with dynamic and human centered conceptual work based on ideas of home, belonging and a sense of place.

An important aspect to this project is the consideration of materials used to create with. People are encouraged to think about innovative ways to up-cycle and reuse items that may seem otherwise be disposable and give these items another purpose.

Homeless Awareness Week 2025

With the theme of Home Truths located in Gosford.

Living Smart Festival 2024

The Living Smart Festival Lake Macquarie invited The Floating Suburb Project to collaborate with the community with what Future Cities might look like using only cardboard and recyclables to create an big outdoor installation.

Youth Express 2025

Working with youth in and around the Hunter Region to bring collaboration and community. This project created space for young people to express their ideas and an opportunity to take action on important issues, and enjoy fun events and activities.
